Duke Offers Football Scholarship To Snoop Dogg’s Son

Now before anyone gets too excited about today’s headline, let me first be the bearer of bad news: Coach K is not involved in this story in any way.

The Raleigh News-Observer is reporting that the Duke football team has offered a scholarship to Class of 2015 wideout Cordell Broadus, better known as the son of Calvin Broadus, better known as Snoop Dogg. (Yeah, yeah, it’s Snoop Lion now, but I’m gonna guess it won’t be by the time Cordell heads to campus somewhere).

Though he’s still a couple years away from graduating, we can only hope Lil’ Snoop takes Duke up on its offer. The mere thought of Snoop wandering around at a staid, uptight place like Duke is the next great reality show waiting to happen.

The best part?

If Broadus does go to Duke, he would not be the only musician’s son on the team. Hud Mellencamp, son of John, is a walk-on defensive back for the Blue Devils. Which reminds me — Indiana’s indoor practice facility is named after John Mellencamp, and they still can’t get his son to come?

Anyway, we can only hope that this becomes Duke football’s “thing.” Imagine the scene if Blanket Jackson gets offered one of these days…
